Typical format of an OSCE

If you have previously examined in an OSCE you may have been provided with 'examiner inter-rater variability feedback'. Inter-rater reliability measures the consistency of rating performance by different examiners. This feedback is useful for your development as a reliable examiner. Typically examiner feedback takes the form of a box plot:

The aim of this feedback is for you to read and reflect on your performance compared to your fellow examiners. You may be a fair examiner however some of you may be more hawkish / stringent or dovish / lenient. It is important to reflect on this information and formulate how you would change your practice in future OSCEs.
