Calling all 1st, 2nd and final year QUB medical students, this is your opportunity to contribute as a volunteer to a major international medical conference - the 10th Northern European Conference on Travel Medicine (NECTM10) - being held at the ICC Belfast June 3-5, 2026. Over 600 delegates from all over Europe and beyond are expected to attend this vibrant and friendly biennial conference, which was first held in Edinburgh in 2006.
For our special 10th anniversary conference, we invite local medical student volunteers, who may be joined by volunteer nursing and pharmacy students.
Each volunteer will receive free registration for their assigned day at the conference.
The role of the student volunteers will be to help orientate delegates as they look for the various session rooms and to improve the flow of delegates throughout the venue. Students will have the opportunity to attend scientific sessions themselves and each volunteer will receive a special NECTM10 t-shirt and letter of appreciation from the NECTM leadership. Full conference details are available at https://mkon.nu/nectm_10.
Once recruited, a virtual meeting will be held with Gerard Flaherty, Professor of Travel Medicine and International Health at University of Galway, who is responsible for bringing NECTM to the wonderful city of Belfast."
Please register your interest via this form which will operate on a 'first come, first serve basis': - Medical Student Conference Volunteering Opportunity – Fill out form. Please check that you are happy with it first before distributing it to your students in Years 1 and 2.
Best wishes,
Professor Gerard Flaherty
