RCSEd Foundation Trainees Surgical Societies National Conference 2026

We are delighted to announce the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Foundation Trainees Surgical Societies National Conference date for 2026! The conference will take place on Saturday 18th July 2026 at RCSEd Edinburgh, and is open to all medical students, foundation doctors, and core trainees interested in a future surgical career. 

The main theme for this year’s FTSS conference is “Operating for the Future: Sustainability in Surgery” which will focus on the surgeon of tomorrow, a greener approach to surgery, and durability in a demanding professionThe conference will be packed with pertinent topics we are confident will be of interest and value to those attending, presented by expert speakers.  There will also be academic sessions with plenty of oral and poster presentations, aiding development, and exchange of knowledge. Furthermore, this is a fantastic opportunity for networking.

Abstracts
We are currently accepting abstract submissions for this conference. We welcome submissions from medical students, foundation doctors, core trainees or registrars for surgery-based original research, reviews, audits, and quality improvement projects. Abstract submitted should come under one of the following topics:
  1. Improving patient outcome / patient safety
  2. Medical education
  3. Surgical innovation and sustainability
The deadline for submitting an abstract is Monday 20th April 2026, 2359hrs and should be submitted via email to outreach@rcsed.ac.uk.
