Student Professionalism Competition
Posted: Tue Sep 22, 2026 11:32 am
Our student professionalism competition, run annually in collaboration with the Medical Schools Council, is now live. We’d love to see more representation and entries from students in Northern Ireland this year, so we’d really encourage you to get your students involved. The winner will receive a £600 voucher, and two runners-up will each receive £200 vouchers. They’ll also receive a certificate to evidence their participation and have their entry featured on our website and our Instagram page. The competition is now open until midday on Wednesday 7 October 2026. Your students can find out more, including how to submit their entry, on our website. About this year’s themeThis year we’re asking students to create engaging online content that helps others recognise and respond to unacceptable behaviours by being an active bystander. Unacceptable behaviours include bullying, harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct toward colleagues or patients. This is an important and sensitive topic, and their content should aim to help others feel empowered to speak up when witnessing unacceptable behaviours. The competition is open to all UK medical students, and they can enter alone or as part of a team. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to understand our guidance in more depth, strengthen their decision-making skills and demonstrate their commitment to the standards expected in clinical practice.
