CoSRH Undergraduate Student Essay Prize

Post by bakpobome »

The College of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare (CoSRH) previously known as the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) is the largest UK multidisciplinary membership organisation working at the heart of sexual & reproductive healthcare, supporting healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.

We have launched our CoSRH Undergraduate Student Essay Prize (formally Margaret Jackson Essay Prize) for 2025, a competition inspired by family planning pioneer Dr Margaret Jackson. Students have the chance to present their ideas on current and topical aspects of sexual and reproductive health in an essay. The prize aims to encourage the next generation of healthcare professionals to engage with new and contemporary ideas within the realms of sexual and reproductive health, while expanding our understanding of where SRH is going next.

Find out more about last year’s winning essay entitled "The impact of climate change on sexual and reproductive health: why is it important and what can we do?” written by Adhishree Sunilkumar.

The prize:

The prize is open to medical undergraduate students, based in the UK or overseas, who can write a 2000 word essay, exploring any topic within sexual and reproductive health. The winning essay will be published on our CoSRH website, with the author receiving a £150 cash prize and a free ticket to a half-day, online event taking place in 2026.

There will also be a half-day, online 2026 event ticket and a cash prize of £75 awarded to two runner up essays.

How to enter:

Write an essay of 2000 words (not including references) on your choice of topic within sexual and reproductive health. You can use our marking criteria to help guide you.

Our application form will ask you to upload your 2000 word essay in Word format, as well as your university contact details.

Upload your essay and contact details to this form by 5pm, Friday 17 October 2025. Any entrants received after this date will not be counted.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
• Be studying at undergraduate level.
• Registered as a medical student in the UK or overseas

The competition is open to all medical students who are currently studying at an undergraduate level. It is not limited to UK students, but we do require all entries to be written in English.

The competition closes at 5pm, Friday 17 October 2025, and the winner will be informed and announced on our website and social media platforms in December.
