ELAG approved survey: How do linguistic choices (“cadaver” vs. “donor”) shape perception in Anatomy Education

Post by bakpobome »

I am writing to invite your institution to take part in my research study exploring how anatomical language (for example, the use of “cadaver” versus “donor”) shapes perceptions of respect, gratitude, and professionalism among students and educators involved in anatomy teaching.

The study is being conducted as part of a UK undergraduate dissertation and has received approval from the Medical Schools Council Ethical Liaison Advisory Group (MSC ELAG) and Swansea University Medical School Research Ethics Sub-Committee (approval number: 2 2026 14568 15185). The survey is open to:
  • students (undergraduate, postgraduate, and Graduate Entry Medicine) who have participated in anatomy teaching involving human bodies or human remains, and
  • staff involved in anatomy teaching.
The participant information sheet and consent information are embedded within the survey itself and are presented to participants before they begin.

Anatomy Terminology Questionnaire – Fill in form

An optional recruitment flyer/poster is included, should you find this helpful for dissemination.

Thank you very much for considering this request and for your support of educational research in anatomy teaching. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.

Kind regards,
Jane Botzaropoulos
