Dear Students,
Are you a neurodivergent medical student? If so, we would be keen to hear about your experiences.
We (Dr Linda Ní Chianáin, Dr Mairead Corrigan and Professor Gerry Gormley) together with two final year medical students (Ella Chamberlain and Jemma Campbell) are conducting a research study titled: “Embracing ‘our’ perspectives: A phenomenological exploration of simulation experiences among neurodiverse medical students.”
This study aims to explore how neurodiverse students experience simulation-based education (SBE). We are particularly interested in understanding how you make sense of these experiences, and how they may impact your learning and wellbeing.
We are inviting students in Years 4 and 5 who identify as neurodiverse (whether formally diagnosed or self-identifying) to take part in an individual interview (lasting approximately 30–60 minutes). You also have the opportunity, if you wish, to create a simple drawing / visual representation of your experience, in advance of the interview, which will be used as a prompt during the interview, though there is no obligation on you to do this. Your insights will help us better understand how to make SBE more inclusive and supportive for all learners.
Attached is a Participant Information Leaflet (PIL) with further details. If you are interested in participating, please complete the MS Form.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to e-mail Dr Corrigan at m.corrigan@qub.ac.uk.
Warm regards,
Mairead, Linda & Gerry
